What is the difference between a tipi and a geodesic dome?
A tipi covers 415 sq ft and holds about 35 seated or 40 standing guests. A geodesic dome is a PVC pod, 12ft wide and 12ft deep inside, with room for an eight-seater table, a bar or display equipment.
The seated figure of 35 is for guests on French Bistro Chairs, with a single table at the front, for example for the couple. Each dome can be used indoors and outdoors.

How do I choose between the three tipis?
The three tipis have the same covered area, diameter and capacity, so the choice comes down to what each is. The Naked Tipi is a structure for hanging décor and lighting, and the Illuminated Tipi has string lights wrapped around its frame. The Tipi Tent is made from canvas and wood.
Which dome is meant for air conditioning?
The Geodesic Air Conditioning Dome. We recommend a portable AC unit with it for a cool down area, and that unit is rented separately from the dome. The AC unit is an extra $600 TTD and is for evening use only.
Which tipis and domes are weatherproof?
The Tipi Tent, with its canvas cover, is weatherproof. The Geodesic Dome Tent, with its cover, is weatherproof, and so is the Geodesic Air Conditioning Dome.
The Naked Tipi has no cover, so it is not weatherproof. The Geodesic Dome has no cover either, so it is not weatherproof.
What holds a tipi down on hard or soft ground?
Ballast plates are provided if a tipi is to stand on a concrete or hard floor. On grass or soft ground, the tipi is anchored into the ground with metal stakes. This applies to the Tipi Tent, the Naked Tipi and the Illuminated Tipi.
The ballast plates are weighted down with one of two options:
- 4 sand bag weights, at no extra cost.
- 4 rum barrel weights, made from our restored Angostura rum barrels, for an additional $1,000 TTD.

Frequently asked questions
Can I put a tipi on grass?
Yes. On grass or soft ground, the Tipi Tent, Naked Tipi and Illuminated Tipi are each anchored into the ground with metal stakes. On a concrete or hard floor, ballast plates are provided instead, weighted down with sand bag or rum barrel weights.
Can I add a decor package to a tipi?
Yes. The Tipi Tent, Naked Tipi and Illuminated Tipi each have a decor package of artificial flowers hung from the central wooden braces, for an extra $600 TTD. The tipi prices of $2,500 TTD, $2,000 TTD and $3,000 TTD per day are before that extra.
Can I add lighting to a geodesic dome?
Yes, for an additional cost each dome can be fitted with lighting, or placed on a choice of specifically constructed wooden platform bases for added internal height. Ask us for the prices of the lighting and the bases when you request a quote.
Can I combine more than one tipi?
The Naked Tipi can stand alone or be surrounded by other tipis in multiple configurations. The Tipi Tent can stand alone or as part of a group. Each tipi covers 415 sq ft and has a diameter of 23ft.
Does the Illuminated Tipi come with lights?
Yes, it is a tipi dressed with string lights wrapped around the frame, so it can be enjoyed into the evening. It is an upgrade to the Naked Tipi or the Pyramid Tipi. It is $3,000 TTD per day.
How tall is a tipi?
The Tipi Tent and Illuminated Tipi are 16ft high with a brim height of 7½ft and a diameter of 23ft. The Naked Tipi has the same diameter and a height of 16ft. Each of the three tipis covers 415 sq ft.
