What furniture do I need to hire for a wedding ceremony?

Short answer

For a wedding ceremony you hire seating (the French Bistro Chair at $18 TTD per day, or the French Farm Bench at $150 TTD per day, which seats four to five adults), an arch or backdrop behind the couple from $1,000 TTD per day, and optionally a Wedding Easel at $250 TTD per day for a welcome sign. Ceremony packages bundle these pieces for 10 to 100 guests, from $1,000 TTD to $3,000 TTD. Prices are per day and exclude delivery and set-up.

A wedding ceremony needs seating, an arch or backdrop and, if you want one, a Wedding Easel for a welcome sign, hired item by item or as a ceremony package from $1,000 TTD to $3,000 TTD.

For a ceremony you hire seating for your guests, an arch or backdrop behind the couple, and, if you want one, an easel for a welcome sign. Each item is priced on its own, per day of hire, and prices exclude delivery and set-up. Our ceremony packages bundle these pieces, and the cost guide covers minimum orders and deposits.

What seating can I hire for a wedding ceremony?

You can hire the French Bistro Chair or the French Farm Bench.

The French Bistro Chair is $18 TTD per day. It is an outdoor chair of wood and stained steel.
The French Farm Bench is $150 TTD per day and seats four to five adults.

For 50 guests on benches, 50 ÷ 5 = 10 benches if each seats five, or 50 ÷ 4 = 12.5, rounded up to 13, if each seats four.

Which arch or backdrop can I hire to stand behind the couple?

We have six arches and two circular backdrops, and each has its own shape or finish. All are for decorative and ornamental use only. Misuse, such as climbing or suspending heavy objects, damages the product.

Ceremony Arch, $1,000 TTD: wooden and rectangular, 6ft wide and 8ft high.
Geometric Arch, $1,200 TTD: wooden and hexagonal, 8ft by 8ft.
A-Frame Arch, $1,200 TTD: wooden and triangular, 8.5ft wide and 9ft high.
Oval Arch, $1,300 TTD: wooden and circular, 8ft by 8ft.
Pergola Arch, $1,200 TTD: a wooden pergola, 8ft by 8ft.
Pergola Arch with Drapes, $1,800 TTD: a muslin-covered pergola with drapes, 8ft by 8ft.
Circular Boxwood Backdrop, $1,000 TTD: freestanding, made from artificial boxwood, 7ft by 7ft.
Circular Marble Backdrop, $1,000 TTD: white faux marble, 7ft by 7ft, which also works as a photo wall.

The Ceremony Arch and Pergola Arch each have a decor package of white drapes and artificial flowers. The Geometric Arch, A-Frame Arch and Oval Arch each have a decor package of artificial flowers, with decorative candle lanterns at the base. Each decor package is an extra $600 TTD.

Can I hire an easel for a welcome sign, and lighting?

Yes. The Wedding Easel is $250 TTD per day. It is a vintage wooden easel, 3ft wide and 5ft high, that holds a table seating plan or a large sign.

Three lighting items suit weddings: French Bistro Lights (50ft) at $200 TTD, String Light Poles (pair) at $175 TTD for soft ground, and Freestanding Light Posts (pair) at $350 TTD for hard ground.

Is there a ceremony package instead?

Yes. Every ceremony package includes seating, an arch or backdrop with a DIY decor kit, and a welcome kit of a Wedding Easel and welcome sign. Items cannot be swapped.

In the packages for 25 to 100 guests you choose the chairs, French Bistro Chairs or Farm Benches, and one backdrop from five, at no extra cost: the A-Frame Arch, Ceremony Arch, Geometric Arch, Circular Boxwood Backdrop or Circular Marble Backdrop. The 10-guest package is chairs only with the Ceremony Arch. Seating is provided for the number of guests in the package, and you can mix chairs and benches if you prefer, with four guests to a bench.

What would 50 guests cost if I hire the items separately?

This example uses one chair per guest, the Ceremony Arch and the Wedding Easel, per day and before delivery and set-up.

50 French Bistro Chairs: 50 × $18 = $900 TTD.
1 Ceremony Arch: $1,000 TTD.
1 Wedding Easel: $250 TTD.
Total: $900 + $1,000 + $250 = $2,150 TTD per day.

The 50-guest package is $2,000 TTD. It also includes a DIY decor kit and a welcome sign, which are not in the list above, so the two figures are not like for like.

Frequently asked questions

Can I swap items in a ceremony package?

No. The items in a ceremony package are discounted from hiring them individually, so substitutions cannot be made. You can add other rental items to your quote request alongside the package, and you receive 10% off those items, applied when you receive your quote.

Can I climb on an arch or hang heavy things from it?

No. Arches and backdrops are for decorative and ornamental purposes only, and misuse such as climbing or suspending heavy objects will result in damage to the product. Any damage beyond reasonable wear and tear is the hirer's responsibility.

Can I see an arch before I book?

Our items are stored disassembled at the Picton Street office, so they can be viewed by appointment only. Viewing is not always possible for larger items that are constructed on site, such as our arches.

Can the arches be used indoors?

The Ceremony Arch, Geometric Arch, A-Frame Arch, Oval Arch, Pergola Arch and Pergola Arch with Drapes all suit indoor and outdoor use. The Circular Boxwood Backdrop is also suitable for both. The arches are for decorative and ornamental purposes only.

How much weight is the French Bistro Chair tested for?

The French Bistro Chair is tested for 110 kg (240 lbs). It is 16in wide, 16in deep and 31in high, with a seat height of 18in. It is an outdoor chair of wood and stained steel, at $18 TTD per day.

Which light poles suit grass and which suit hard ground?

The String Light Poles (pair) push into soft ground for stability. The Freestanding Light Posts (pair) are for hard ground, with the lights anchored to a permanent structure at each end. The pair of String Light Poles is $175 TTD per day and the pair of Freestanding Light Posts is $350 TTD per day.
